The Human Resources Committee of the Board of Management is made up of a minimum of 5 members – at least one with a background in HR – and its meetings are attended by the Head of HR and Development. The frequency and timing of meetings are dictated largely by reports from her, both summarising annual developments and also alerting the Committee to the need for change brought about by, for instance, new employment legislation. Recently the Committee has considered the implications for local pay and conditions of changes in the FE sector including national bargaining. Over all, the Committee is accountable for compliance by the College with employment law, principles of equity and equality, and its own policies on people, pay, promotion etc.
